About this book

I lived on the streets of Ethiopia. This book is not written from imagination or only from reading other people’s work. It is written from my own life. At first, I started writing just to express my experiences and feelings. I wanted to tell the story of what daily life on the street really looks like. But after I began talking with others who were also living on the streets, listening to their stories, their pain, and their struggles, my writing changed. I realized this was bigger than my own story. That is when I decided to turn it into real research. In this book, I explain the main causes of street life in Ethiopia, including poverty, family problems, unemployment, migration, and lack of support systems. I describe the daily challenges we face such as hunger, insecurity, health problems, rejection, and emotional suffering. At the same time, I also show our strength, our survival skills, and our hope for a better future.
